The winner of this year's OscarWorld Open Academy Awards predicting contest
will receive these three prizes!
Astar PD-3015 Portable DVD Player! The biggest prize of the three is a brand new portable DVD player
from Astar. The Astar PD-3015 Portable DVD Player features a Widescreen LCD
panel, and is the perfect traveling companion for your personal entertainment.
Power is supplied through the AC Adaptor, Car DC adaptor, or the rechargeable
battery pack. The included A/V cables allow connection to a TV with Composite
inputs, and with the Full Function Remote Control.
Book: The Big Show (High Times and Dirty Dealings Backstage at the Academy Awards)! In addition, the number one finisher of this year's
Open will also be receiving one of the most in depth books going behind the scenes
at the Academy Awards ceremonies, letting you in on all the gossip and
interesting celebrity tidbits as well as all that it takes to put the yearly
Academy Awards telecasts together. Subtitled "High Times and Dirty Dealings
Backstage at the Academy Awards", Publishers Weekly described the book this way:
Entertainment journalist Steve Pond (Premiere Magazine) opens this
bluntly informative look at the "negotiations and machinations, the politics,
the compromises and the excesses" of the Academy Award process by discussing the
legendary tastelessness of the show Allan Carr produced in 1989, a production so
savaged by critics that it destroyed his reputation (it began with Snow White
and Rob Lowe performing a "Proud Mary" duet, prompting a lawsuit from Disney).
Pond covers Oscar's early history, including such injustices as Norma Shearer's
1930 win over Greta Garbo, a victory triggered by MGM's orders that employees
vote for studio chief Irving Thalberg's wife ("What do you expect?" Joan
Crawford famously commented. "She sleeps with the boss"). He devotes many pages
to the disastrous choice of David Letterman as host in 1995, whose excruciating
jokes ("Oprah. Uma. Uma. Oprah") and pet tricks set a ludicrous tone; and cites
Madonna's profane tirades during a 1991 rehearsal. The book covers Academy
campaigns over the past 15 years, and effectively dramatizes how the show
changed under the leadership styles of Richard and Lili Zanuck and current
producer Gil Cates. Little-known anecdotes about Bob Dylan, Barbra Streisand,
Julia Roberts, Billy Crystal, and Halle Berry confirm that Pond knows this
backstabbing territory well, and fans of Hollywood gossip will find plenty of
colorful new material.
MY NAME IS BOND ... JAMES BOND 2 Disc Custom CD Collection! And finally, this year's winner will take home a prize you'll only find here!
It's a brand new custom CD
collection created by Jason O'Brien, which compiles all of the original theme
songs for all 21 official James Bond movies, including the most recent film
Casino Royale starring the new James Bond, Daniel Craig. Presented in
chronological order, MY NAME IS BOND ... JAMES BOND presents the original songs
performed by the original artists, introduced with small clips of dialogue from
each film. It'll be a journey through one of the most successful and enduring
film franchises in history, and because it's so current, it's only available as
part of this contest. Beginning with a clip of Sean Connery introducing himself
as "Bond ... James Bond" from the very first film Dr. No in 1962, the
legendary theme music we've all come to know introduces the collection from the
original film that started it all. Through all the Sean Connery films, to the
Roger Moore era of the 70's and 80's, to Timothy Dalton's brief foray in two
films, to the Pierce Brosnan resurrection in the 90's, and to the latest film,
it's fascinating to listen to all the original James Bond theme songs and see
how each film's song is a representation of the styles of the times they came
out of. One collection, containing songs performed by Paul McCartney, the
legendary Shirley Bassey, Tina Turner, Sheryl Crow, Madonna, Garbage, Sheena
Easton, Duran Duran, Tom Jones, Carly Simon, and the current "You Know My Name"
from Casino Royale, performed by Chris Cornell of Audioslave. There's other
James Bond CDs out there containing the original Bond songs, but none like this
containing the most current films, and also containing small bits of dialogue
from EVERY film before each song!
That's what you could win this year ... so definitely JOIN US THIS YEAR!
