The ending when the year 2000 arives
F R O M
STRANGE DAYS (1995)

This ending is unique because after seeing a very dark portrait of the immediate future, and witnessing the elaborate conspiracy when two cops kill a very outspoken black singer and activist, this ending presents a hope for the first time. Plus it also shows how big that party would probably be like when we entered the next millenium on New Year's Eve 1999 (and in hindsight, it was pretty accurate). In addition, Ralph Fiennes and Angela Bassett finally get together, but it's the smaller scenes that turn this film around with a hope that the year 2000 and beyond will be happier and better times for the human race. We see images of couples hugging and kissing, a security man with his rifle hugging a woman, and a shot of the blimp above, saying "Good Year 2000" -- after what Fiennes and Bassett endured during that final night of the millenium, it should be a very good year.
