The movie finally being made completely opposite from the original idea
F R O M
THE PLAYER (1992)

This scene is so great because of how truthful it is. Anyone who's experienced the Hollywood system can appreciate this scene -- in this movie about the movies and the motion picture industry, early on in the film a writer pitches an idea for an film that is extraordinary, a real serious, dark film about "real life" and the writer insists it has to be made without any typical Hollywood happy endings and no big stars. But eventually, as often happens, a good idea is turned into a money-making prospect and when we finally see the ending scene from that film, the movie is populated with stars, including Bruce Willis and Julia Roberts, and the happy ending is there. It's simply an ironic look at just how movies tend to get made in Hollywood.
