The opening sequence revealing the droogs
F R O M
A CLOCKWORK ORANGE (1971)

This opening sequence from Stanley Kubrick's landmark film sets the stage and the entire mood for the film. A dark, monstrous musical score begins on the opening shot of Malcolm Macdowell staring directly into the camera. His stare penetrates deep into the audience for several moments, until finally the camera pulls back, and as we see his band of droogs, drinking milk -- Macdowell's narration informs us that they are preparing for the bit of the old ultraviolence. And so opens this often times bizarre but still mesmerizing portrait of a dark possible future.
