Ending with Bogart putting Ilsa on the plane
F R O M
CASABLANCA (1942)

This will probably always rank as one of the most popular and cherished of all classic films, and this ending sequence the most remembered. It's the sequence where Rick, played by Humphrey Bogart, must make the ultimate sacrifice and put his long-time love Ilsa, played remarkably by Ingrid Bergman, on a plane with Paul Henreid for her own good. He tells her that if she stays with him, that she may not regret it now, but years from now she will. Rick realizes her life will be better if she gets on that plane and leaves him once and for all. Of course, Ilsa gets on the plane and Bogart delivers that final immortal line to his newfound friend -- "Louis, I think this is the beginning of a beautiful friendship." Out of all of the films from the golden age of cinema, this film ranks above them all, and this sequence one of the most powerful tragic moments between two lovers in the history of the cinema.
